I think many of you know that we are in the midst of building at Visual Roots. Yes, we are awake at 7:00 am when the trucks come rumbling down our street or the machines start up.  (note to self to make the neighbour’s cookies as a Thank you for putting up with all the early mornings!) It’s so exciting to be expanding and just the thought of having more space for business and family makes me jump for joy.  We had many obstacles to work around such as our large trees and cute tree house but its all been working out well and the trucks and machines seem to have room to maneuver.
This process started about 5 years ago with a dream to have more space to serve our customers. Like many things it was talked about a lot but we weren’t quite ready to jump in with both feet. We planned and planned some more and then it seemed the time was right. Our kids are only getting older as we are reminded daily by their many accomplishments and independence. With that we needed a change, to make our home more “just home” instead of a shared workspace.  We have been photographing the journey from day one and will be sharing it with you over the next several months.
Below is the footings being poured by the concrete truck.  Our neighbours little boys had deckside seats watching the truck and waving to the men working. They were even wearing their hard hats.

  • Monica - Can’t wait to see the finished product!!

I had a lot of fun with Kristen & Blaine. We hiked up to the very spot where they got engaged. It was a bit of a climb but the view of lake Muskoka and the rocky landscape were amazing.  Their pup was a barrel of fun too, trying to soak us in mud and water.

And the winners are Melissa Stevens and Robin Poulin!!
Here is what they had to say about their amazing mom’s

Melissa-My mum is the most amazing person I know. She stayed at home and raised three kids. Always made sure we never went without even if it meant she sacraficed things for herself. Not only did she make sure our house as always cleaned and tidy but she also took care of neighbours who were in need constantly. She inspired us all by going back to school to get her diploma after all her kids were in school themselves. Now as a grandma to 16 kids she always there to assist and help watch them or do whatever we need to help raise our kids as well. She lives to love and has many “adopted” kids from church who come to her for love and guidance. She is the best example anyone could ask for.

Robin-My Mom would do anything I ask of her and drop anything she has to do to accomplish it. She lives 45 min away and her and Dad drove to visit with me for 10 minutes to give me a treat she thought would brighten my day. Only to make the 45 minute drive again. Those 10 minutes meant the world to me and I know it did for them too. She makes very useful suggestions once in a while to help improve my life but leaves me to choose for myself without any judgement. She has given much for my whole life. She is an amazing example of hope, love, long suffering, gentleness, kindness, giving her all without judgment to all around her. I am grateful that she is my Mom.

Thanks so much to everyone who entered. Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful Mom’s out there!

Here are our two Momma’s hiking last summer.
