Visual Roots is the combined talent of photographers Andrew Essig and Kate Gass – a collaboration of two different perspectives creating one unique photographic story. Our story began as students studying photographic arts in London. From these early beginnings of late night ping pong, eggo waffle diets and paper rock scissor settlements we became great friends. We have since married and now reside in Woodland Beach where we’re kept busy raising two great kids (Maddie and Quinn) and throwing the ever returning stick for Thunder our black lab.

In 2001 we found Visual Roots was the name that best describes our goals as a professional photographic team. To root our self (so to speak) in a common passion for great images and to provide our clients with photos that truly express who they are in a style that is unique, candid and everlasting. In 2007, our new Fireside Studio was completed, and has provided our clients with a greater range of shooting options and styles. Over the years we have photographed in many great locations all over Canada and abroad. Looking back, we feel a great sense of accomplishment in serving the Georgian Triangle and area for over eight years as professional wedding and portrait photographers.

Our approach to photographing your special day or portrait session is simple. We want you to be relaxed and most importantly have fun so that your true self shines. We will go to great lengths to put you at ease during an often time sensitive and sometimes stressful event. Our work reflects this goal, as we feel truly great images are taken in the most candid of moments.
