THANK YOU!

July 28, 2011

We just wanted to say thank you to all our great clients and we really appreciate the support and understanding over the last month.  The wedding season started on a rough note with the postal strike. Living in a rural area like we do we depend on the postal service for almost all of our mailings and packages. With the service not running it was a lot more difficult and expensive to get everything where it needed to be. Also, we had several packages stuck waiting for everything to reopen. Once that was over we were excited to get everything back on track. Only that didn’t quite happen as quick as we had hoped.

On July 5th a close family member had a bad accident. We are very happy to say that they are recovering.  It will be a long process for them.  This again took us away from our editing work and set us behind by a few more days.  Things are now getting back on track and we are working hard on keeping to our time-lines.  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call or email.

Thanks again for the kind words and best wishes that you have offered. Also, for your patience and understanding. It means a lot to us.

Cheers,

Kate & Andrew

It’s not what all of you might have guessed but Andrew surprised me last weekend with our new summer home.  As you can see it fits in our kitchen, so there’s no reason to be jealous as you too can have a new summer home.  When Andrew and I first met we each had our own tents, both were two/three man set-ups (although my tent has seen four adults sleeping in it on at least one very cold canoe trip, but that’s another story). With the addition of Madisen and Quinn and our biggest baby Thunder we needed to expand. This year however we decided to move on to a bigger more comfortable tent and we hope to spend many nights in it this summer.

This summer we will be traveling all over Ontario to photograph weddings and our new summer home will be coming with us.

We are super lucky that our two wonderful kids love the adventure of camping and in a week or two we will try out our new home for a weekend get away before Weddings season starts full swing. I am sure we will all be warm, comfortable and the best part have enough space.

Have a tent, will travel.

Cheers,

Kate & Andrew

So Much fun! I had decided to put together a photobooth for the Wasaga Business show about a month ago. During the past month many things got in the way in promoting it but it was still a big hit. Next year we hope to more people join us and maybe have a theme? It was great to see so many people out at the show and see faces we have not seen in awhile. Thanks for stopping by!

Here are a few fun ones.

Favorite of the day, so sweet.

Cheers,

Kate & Andrew

Hello, You might be wondering what happened to the posts that are linked to Facebook and Twitter. This past weekend we had a huge issue with our blog and things are now fixed but in the process some past articles have gone missing. In the coming weeks we will be re-posting the weddings that are missing as well as adding lots more from the sessions that we photographed this past year.

Now on to the show! This past weekend we were away in Gravenhurst at the Muskoka Wedding Show. We had a great time meeting vendors and lots of brides! The show was a hit.  The show had tasting’s through out the two days and we both had some wonderful treats like prosciutto wrapped shrimp with basil (Christine Bib Catering) and lovely cranberry wine ( Muskoka Lake Winery).

We just wanted to say Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth.

Cheers,

Kate & Andrew

This past week has made me sit back and reflect on family and great friends.  The reason being we have had a few people, friends of family who have left this world.  While our friends Jim & Marlene brought a new baby girl into this world. Other friends are celebrating milestones such as turning Thirty.  Everything these days seems to happen so quickly.

It is a wonderful thing to be surrounded by great people but are you letting those people know how great they really are? ( This is what I asked myself)

This weekend we will be getting away to slow things down and get back to nature. But, I also plan on letting those great people know how great they really are and how much they mean to me.

I love you, man!! (added humour to lighten this post up!)

What are you up to this weekend? It’s supposed to be a great one so enjoy it!

Our Wonderful and stick loving dog Thunder.

Happy Birthday Shannon!  Now, we are the same age for a few weeks.

Andrew getting in a quick paddle before bed.  This is why we live way out here.

Sending warm thoughts and good vibes to all this weekend. Remember “Safe Home”

Kate

Ken-&-Anyagermanwedding

Andrew and I have been very busy these last few weeks, as I am sure all of our clients and all the other people getting married this summer are. The busiest part is organizing everything for the beginning of wedding season so that it will be smooth sailing throughout the summer.  For us it’s almost like getting ready for Christmas except a much longer season.  Also, it is very much like waiting for Christmas morning. We are very excited to get the ball rolling and into the full swing of the season.
Andrew and I both very much love being apart of such a special day in peoples lives.   This season we have the opportunity to photograph in many places that we have never photographed before and this even adds more to the excitement.  Don’t worry we should still be able to sleep with all this excitement! Hopefully, anyways.

A few tips for you planning that wonderful wedding to make sure your day is smooth sailing

1. Add a 10-15 min buffer into your ceremony. Tell your guests the ceremony starts at 4:00 but have it really start at 4:15.

2. Drive the route from church to reception, add ten minutes. How long does it take? Will there be added traffic, construction on the weekend of your big day?

3. Worried everything is not going to go as planned? Don’t stress about it. Why not look in to having a day of coordinator to make it flow as planned and you won’t have to worry.

4. Planning can be stressful make sure you have a night off for the two of you to unwind and not talk about anything wedding.

5. Plan at least a hour and a half for your photographers to photograph between the ceremony and reception.  Also, think about your guests during this time what will they be doing? Best is to suggest things for guests to do. Having a cottage wedding, why not have a card tournament or horseshoes. Maybe a magician, ice carver or entertainer or perhaps just a break for everyone to get ready for a great evening.  Just don’t leave them in the dark about what is going on.

6. Remember at the end of it all no one will know that the flowers were supposed to be red not pink, that the cake was late or anything else that could possibly be a little off. It does not matter, you will be married to the one you love the most!

To all of our clients we can’t wait to see what you have in store for us!  See you really soon. To anyone else getting married this summer, we wish you all the best in Life and Marriage.

Oh and yes, we are ready!

Happy Planning,

Kate & Andrew

I came about this Project on another blog that I follow. I wanted to share it here because it is something that we try to do on a regular basis and think it’s a great idea for everyone. There are many local businesses here in the Georgian triangle that I shop at who have been hit hard by the recession and are still struggling to make it through. Yes, sometimes it costs more then at a bigger store but at that bigger store I don’t get the service or the quality. So, when you look at the big picture it really does not cost more because I am always getting better quality.  Many Chamber of Commerce and town/Cities have campaigns to promote shopping local. Find a few stores in your area and try it out.  I am sure you like it!

Find out about Local Business in Wasaga this weekend on Sunday 11-4 at the RecPlex.
