Andrew & I were very excited to photograph in Algonquin. Being an avid outdoor couple what could be better then photographing in an amazing setting with another avid outdoor couple and their friends? Well, nothing really.

Their wedding took place at Arowhon Pines. (Arowhon Pines is a small, rustic 50-room summer resort located in the heart of Algonquin Park, a huge nature and wildlife preserve.) The staff alone were amazing and really made sure every detail was taken care of.  The resort it’s self is truly amazing if you are ever in Algonquin during the summer stop in for Breakfest or Dinner. I know I will be back sometime this summer.

Megan & Torsten first met at summer camp. Megan’s father was the camp doctor at the all boys Camp Ponacka.  Apparently, Megan picked Torsten out on the first day and the soon became a couple , and as they say the rest is history.

Their wedding day started out rainy and wet but as the day progressed it got sunnier and we had a beautiful sunset by dinnertime.  They got ready at different ends of the resort so as not to see each other and met for the lakeside ceremony.

What a great day.

Mel & Daniel’s Wedding- October 2009- Will it rain for long?

If you have not read about our Contest called The Story of your Day you can read more at the link below.

http://visualrootsblog.com/2010/06/01/the-story-of-your-day-contest-wedding-photographers/

The contest is open to anyone, yes anyone who has planned a wedding or gotten married.  All you need to do is send out an email to us with a tip how you planned your day. Don’t forget to include you and your spouses name and  when  you were married. Piece of cake!

What helped?

What to avoid?

Great idea’s or planning tips?

Also, what was your best moment of the day?

We have decided to extend the date of contest closing for a few different reasons but number one was our brides & grooms who are still getting married this summer, who want to enter.  The contest close date will now be the 29th of August.   Just because it has been extended don’t delay in getting your entries in. It won’t be extended again.

Here’s one we have recieved from Barb Sherwood – “My best moment of the day was walking down the ailse with my new husband Mike. I was so happy in that moment, it felt like I was walking on a cloud.  Planning tip: Hire a wedding planner for the day of to make sure everything goes smoothly. Best thing I did.”

Remember all for writing an email you could win a Married Portrait Session, a Trash the dress session or a Hundred dollar Gift Certificate!

Also, you will be helping so many future brides out there with your great advice.

Thanks!

Kate & Andrew

Jeff & Kim found us like a lot of people do through the internet. That was followed up by a phone call, then a consultation appointment was set which ended not being a good day and we tried to plan for another but it never worked out. The main problem being Kim was planning this wedding from another country!  We never ended up meeting until the day of the wedding. By then we had spent quite a few hours on the phone and felt like we knew each other.

Since Jeff is from the USA and that is where they met and live, he needed the day to not be too Canadian.  His brother in law had other idea’s, like giving Jeff’s father a Canadian hockey team Jersey!

The day was perfect for a wedding! They had decided to get married by the water at the Bear Estate in Collingwood. They also had many friends and family who were able to join them from all over the world. Which I know made their day.

Kim’s Grandfather and Jeff’s Dad dancing. Jeff’s dad is from the USA and was given this team Canada Jersey when he came into the wedding.
